Teluk Intan is the district capital of Hilir Perak, a flat river town where the Perak River bends past the old commercial core on Jalan Bandar and the 1885 Leaning Tower. Perak Transit stage buses reach the outlying stops from Terminal Intan in Bandar Baru Teluk Intan: route 103 goes to Langkap, 102 to Kampung Gajah, 23 to Bidor and 100 to Tapah.
