The role
What you will do
- Plan and deliver 1-to-1 or small-group English lessons aligned to the KPM Bahasa Inggeris syllabus (KSSR Tahun 1-6 and KSSM Tingkatan 1-5) and the CEFR proficiency framework.
- Strengthen each student's writing, reading comprehension and oral skills, with a clear plan to move them up CEFR bands (A2 → B1 → B2).
- Drill exam technique for SPM English 1119: Paper 1 (directed and continuous writing) and Paper 2 (reading comprehension and literature component), plus PT3 English, MUET, IELTS and IGCSE English where relevant.
- Set and mark essays, comprehension and KPM-set literature questions (novels, poems and short stories), and give detailed written feedback with band descriptors.
- Prepare students for the KPM oral component and share regular, honest progress updates with parents after each topic or assessment.
Who we are looking for
- A relevant degree in English, Linguistics, Education or a related field.
- IPG-trained tutors and ex-KPM English teachers are strongly preferred.
- Solid familiarity with the SPM English 1119 format (Paper 1 and Paper 2), the KPM literature component, and the CEFR framework, plus PT3, MUET or IELTS where relevant.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, with confident pronunciation and modelling for the oral component.
- At least 1 year of tutoring or classroom teaching experience.
- Based in Malaysia and eligible to work here, reliable and genuinely good with students.
Pay range
RM50 – RM150 per hour
Actual rate depends on level taught, your qualifications and experience (IPG-trained / ex-KPM teacher / graduate), and lesson format. Higher levels (STPM, MUET, IELTS, IB English) sit at the upper end of the range.

Do I need to be IPG-trained to tutor English?
No. IPG-trained tutors and ex-KPM English teachers are preferred and earn at the higher end, but graduates with strong command of English and tutoring experience are welcome to apply.
Which exams will I be preparing students for?
