Pay range
RM70 – RM200 per hour
Actual rate depends on subject, your qualifications and experience (international-school teacher / Cambridge or Edexcel examiner / graduate), and lesson format. Sciences, Maths and students targeting top grades for IB Diploma, Cambridge A-Level, AP or Foundation progression sit at the upper end.
IGCSE is the dominant Year 10–11 pathway in Malaysian private and international schools. From Cambridge International to Edexcel/Pearson, families look for tutors who understand Core versus Extended (or Foundation versus Higher) tier strategy and can lift grades from a borderline pass into the A*/A band.

The role
What you will do
- Plan and deliver 1-to-1 or small-group IGCSE lessons for Cambridge International or Edexcel/Pearson syllabuses across Maths, Sciences, English and Economics.
- Diagnose each student's gaps against the relevant tier (Cambridge Core/Extended or Edexcel Foundation/Higher) and build a focused, measurable plan to lift their target grade.
- Drill exam technique paper by paper, support coursework and practical components where applicable, and run timed past-paper rehearsals.
- Set and mark practice questions and full mock papers, give clear written feedback, and track progress against the official mark scheme.
- Share regular, honest progress updates with parents after each topic, mock or school report.

- Confident with coursework guidance, exam technique and grade-boundary strategy across at least one paper tier.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know both Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE?
No. Most tutors specialise in one awarding body. Cambridge International is the more common in Malaysia, but Edexcel/Pearson is widely used too. Tell us which syllabus and tier you are confident with.
Which Malaysian schools follow IGCSE?
Many private and international schools offer IGCSE in Years 10–11, including Tenby, Cempaka, Sri KL and other Klang Valley schools. Students often progress to IB Diploma, Cambridge A-Level, AP or a Foundation programme after IGCSE.
How does IGCSE compare to SPM?
IGCSE sits at a similar age and level to SPM (typically ages 14–16), but is offered by Cambridge International or Edexcel rather than LPM. Many tutors comfortably cover both.
